A Community-Wide Restorative Practices Programme

New Books

Book title: A Community-Wide Restorative Practices Programme: Implementation Guide

In order to improve relationships and social cohesiveness in societies, “restorative justice” has been advocated as a novel approach to criminal justice. The fundamental components of this strategy are mediation, peace and reconciliation, and dialogue without conflict. The use of this idea in the planning and design of cities, the primary site of human habitation and activity in the modern world, has caught the interest of interdisciplinary researchers in recent years.

With the exception of the fact that in the text of the attempted translation, the implementation steps were mentioned with the expertise of the capacities and local development of Iran to adapt, this book was a translation of the collection published by the CDI Institute, which was presented under the title ” A Community-Wide Restorative Practices Programme: Implementation Guide” in 2014. As a result, after outlining the principles underlying the restorative justice approach and the ultimate concept that results from the interaction of its contributing factors, it has been examined how to put together operational plans based on this strategy in local development offices all at once, taking into account framework studies and procedures.

Therefore, it can be claimed that the following article is regarded as a practical guide for the application of the restorative approach at the level of urban communities with a concentration on low-income areas rather than focusing on the theoretical underpinnings and definitions of restorative justice.

This operational guide was created by the research team at Mummute Accelerator Urban Innovation Studio Research Center under the scientific direction of Sina Ataee, a senior researcher in the field of urban innovation. In 2021, it was translated into Persian and made freely accessible online to the general public.
